It’s Jim again and today we leave the Tetons. It has been relaxing while we were here in the middle of incredible scenery. On our way out, we stopped in Teton Village to take the tram to the top of Mt. Rendezvous. When I say the top, I mean the summit at over 10,000 feet. What an unbelievable feeling to look 360 degrees and see the awesome sights of the Teton Range, Jackson Lake, and the Snake River valley. While up there, we stopped in the snack shop for ice cream and I noticed a Waukesha West Track and Field jacket out on the deck. The young man will be a junior but did not know Lizzie. Once we were back at the bottom of the mountain, we had a nice lunch in the grill and then drove to Utah. On the way we drove through the Flaming Gorge. We could tell it was appropriately named because of the deep red rock. However, it was not as “flaming” as it could have been because of the overcast sky. As we closed in on Steinaker State Park in Utah, we saw what we believe was a female moose waiting to cross the highway. For some reason, everyone in the car made sure I saw it. Our campsite at Steinaker was great and so were the pepperoni pudgy pies we made for dinner. One other note is that most of the travel across Wyoming is boring, especially when you hit construction on the “open range”.
